In our laboratory, we wish to investigate the functional effects, food-drug interactions and safety of unique ingredients of agricultural products (including crude extracts) by the foundational techniques based on various pharmaceutical science fields such as pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, analytical chemistry, nutrition, toxicology, and molecular biology as well as the perspectives and concepts of "Kampo and crude drugs," a strength of pharmaceutical science. Additionally, we also wish to contribute to our local communities by developing, so-called, sixth sector industrialization of agriculture which combines primary (agriculture), secondary (manufacturing), and tertiary (retail) industries with new value-added agricultural-derived products to promote human health (i.e. functional foods that are beneficial to health).
