We invited an ex-member of the Japan International Cooperation Association (JICA), Takaaki Sawai, to give a special lecture on community health in Africa.

He stayed in a rural area in Uganda for two years, working to improve the environment surrounding the local people and help them increase their income. He also tried to find the reason for the high mortality rate among infants and young children.

It was a unique opportunity for our students to learn the importance of considering what they can do to find and solve problems based on local needs and from multiple perspectives.
