I am researching interaction patterns of language use between teacher
and pupil in the classroom at the level of transaction, exchange, move
and act based on Sinclair and Coulthard’s model of CCDA. Other interests
include task-based syllabus design for university learners, ethnography
in the classroom and professional development and teacher training.
My philosophy on English acquisition is two fold. First, students must have the chance to use language in as ‘real’ a way as the classroom will permit. Second, students improve communicative competencies as well as standardized test scores such as the TOEIC.
