Yunnus Shaikh

I am Yunnus Shaikh, I received my MSc degree in organic chemistry at University of Pune (India) where I also did my PhD in synthetic organic chemistry with Prof. Mukund Kulkarni in 2012. After that I worked at Dow Chemical Intl. Pvt. Ltd. and Izen Biosciences Pvt. Ltd. (India). Currently I am TBRF postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Hideko Nagasawa (Gifu Pharmaceutical University, Japan). My current research interest is focused on development of 18F-labelled probe for PET imaging.
Gifu is a unique place, blessed with natural beauty. It’s very nice and comfortable city to live. The peoples here are very friendly and will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and helpful. As for the Gifu Pharmaceutical University, it is great place for studies and research. All the facilities at GPU are top notch, and the extracurricular facilities are both impressive and well maintained. The university system is extremely welcoming and supportive and any university staff I’ve ever contacted or talked to have always been friendly and helpful. I received the impression that, professors in GPU are very competent and are always willing to help students. As being a postdoctoral student, I liked the atmosphere of the labs and impressed by how research progresses through repeated discussions. Personally I found that GPU is a place where a student can develop and flourish as a person, both intellectually and socially.
Also, I found that studying abroad is an opportunity to discover yourself while gaining an understanding of a different culture and you will be exposed to countless different experiences that will influence the rest of your life. I think, being in a foreign country is an experience unlike any other.
